Reaching Goals for Sustainability

In March 2024, Visstun announced Vanish® cups & containers made with plastic-free BioNatura coated paper and have the performance of traditional paper cold, hot, microwavable, & double-poly cups. Visstun® Vanish® Plastic-Free cups will drastically reduce plastic from the waste stream and provide benefits from an EPR fee standpoint.

Starting in December 2019, Visstun® PE lined Paper Cups, Containers, and Paper Lids were all made with an industry leading 35% Sustana EnviroLife™ Post-Consumer Recycled Fiber (PCF). With the introduction of Vanish®, which is a better alternative to PCF, we began removing PCF from our regular products.

It is important to us that each cup has a built in eco benefit and Vanish® is the next step in our journey!

Why Visstun® Vanish® Paper Cups?

Because Visstun® Vanish® cups do not contain plastic, you remove 2.6 pounds of plastic from the waste stream per 1,000 cups compared to our double poly version regardless of how they’re composted, recycled, or disposed of. A sustainable benefit built into the cup. These cups are coated with an aqueous dispersion coating (DBC) that creates a moisture barrier. Since these cups are plastic free, the cups are recyclable as regular paper at any recycle facility that accepts paper cups.

All Visstun® paper receives the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI), or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) chain-of-custody certification guaranteeing that the fiber used was harvested from responsible, well-managed forests.
